In My Studio - Deborah Kyle Hintergardt

In my studio I'm expanding.

I've always done representational drawings and paintings, yes I really pushed color, but The subject matter was always clearly identifiable. A donkey was a donkey no matter his color. This year however has been a year of playing with color for color sake. Obviously my paintings have a composition, but my intentions were only to experiment with chroma ergo my "Chromatic Explorations".

I've explored different supports such as canvas and wood. I've explored different beginning grounds such as black, white and natural linen.

I've been quite prolific, with 40 new paintings ranging from 6"x6"-36"x36" to exhibit at this year's open studios tour.

Since I've been working on multiple paintings at the same time and multiple large paintings my studio has definitely expanded. I have not moved any walls, but I have found myself moving to the back deck and working on tables and benches or to the living room couch propping up two paintings at a time and covering my carpet with with blankets and towels. It has been a challenge but a very worthwhile one.

I'm excited to share my latest works with all of you!
